A BIT ABOUT ME
My name is Tami and I am a Florida native - a wife of 41 years to my best friend, a mom to three adult children and one wonderful son-in-law, a grateful Grami to two boys and two girls, a sister to my amazing sister...plus a blessed friend to some wonderful human beings.
I am compelled and committed to the deep work of parenting adult children. I wish I could say that parenting our adult children has been all joy—but that isn’t our story. It has been part of our story but not all of our story. We love our children deeply and see the incredible people they were created to be, yet we’ve also walked through dark seasons of uncertainty, mental illness, addiction, over-rescuing, and the everyday challenges of knowing when to speak and when to step back. This journey has shaped me more than anything else in my life—and I’m still living in it and learning from it.
As a woman of faith, I know I wouldn’t be here without God’s strength holding me up, drawing near to my broken heart, and surrounding me with people who pray, listen, and love. Without some tangible and courageous steps during this time I would have ended up stuck...frozen in fear or anger or both...and my days would be filled with depression and anxiety. Instead of letting the struggles and suffering harden me, God is using them to reshape me...and my calling.
For over 30 years, I’ve poured into others...
Taking students around the world to share the love of Jesus through drama
Owning & operating a fitness center - growing from 0 to 750 members
Leading the women's ministry at a large multi-site church
Leading retreats
Speaking nationally and internationally
All of those experiences prepared and equipped me, and I'm eternally grateful for them, but nothing has refined me like parenting alongside my husband through the heartache, the stretching, the surrender of parenting our adult children. Only God could use those places to forge compassion and a calling to walk with other parents in this season. My husband and I are living proof that God can steady you when the ground beneath you shakes. When your adult child isn’t okay, you can still be okay. The greatest gift you bring to any relationship—especially with those closest to you—is a grounded, emotionally and spiritually healthy you.
So whether you're learning to accept & define the new role you have as a parent of an adult child and OR whether it's stepping into the hardest thing you've gone through. I’m here to walk with you. You're not meant to do this alone.
I would be honored to help you Find Joy in Hard Places.
Let’s take the first step together,
Tami
